Disodium sebacate, CAS 17265-14-4
Disodium sebacate is an alkali metal salt of sebacic (decanedioic) acid; a C10 dicarboxylate. Sebacate salts such as disodium sebacate have several industrial applications as a polymer additive, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, aluminum grease precursors, electrolytes, detergent additives, self-healing promoter in coolant liquid formulation, etc. Despite being C10 dicarboxylate, disodium sebacate is readily water soluble (>100g/L) which is by far higher than sebacic acid, which is virtually insoluble in water. The solubility of disodium sebacate can be increased by adding alcohols to its aqueous solutions.
