Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium acetate
Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium acetate is a liquid salt of acetic acid and diethanolamine. Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium acetate is miscible with aqueous and organic solvents. Like other organic ionic liquids, bis(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium acetate can be used as an electrolyte in dye-sensitized solar cells, secondary batteries, electrochromic displays, supercapacitors, electrolytic membranes, fuel cells, electrochemical sensors or biosensors, and actuators. In biorefinery applications, bis(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium acetate can be useful as a recyclable solvent for biopolymers such as agarose, starch, cellulose, zein protein, etc.
